The Brother 5200 family of printers and MFPs was introduced in October 2005. Several models followed the initial 30 page per minute (ppm) HL-5240, HL-5250, HL-5270 and HL-5280 printers, all having the same basic specifications and based on the same print engine. These included the copier-based DCP-8060 and 8065 and the MFC-8000 series MFPs. Each model carries a duty cycle of 30,000 pages per month.
In September 2006 Oce introduced the Imagistics FX-3000 MFP based on the same print engine, and with the same basic specifications as the Brother models.
Supplies for the group include separate drum and toner cartridges. Brother offers replacement toner cartridges in 3,500 page standard and 7,000 page high yield versions, while Oce offers a 7,500 yield version. The Brother toner cartridges are nearly identical; only the toner loads and flag gears differ. These flag gears must be reset for proper operation. There is no chip required.
